This book addresses a new topic, which is salvation through art, and we have chosen tragedy as our model since tragedy is the art most closely related to the existential experience of humans. It is also the art that closely aligns in its goals, pursuits, and issues with philosophical inquiry. While the Arabic library is rich with dozens of books that address theater issues, this study may be the first of its kind to explore the idea of salvation in its ritualistic roots in magic and myth, and then follow its development in classical tragedy in both its Greek and modern forms.
